Effective Dec. 1, 2020, Empire Scale Corporation has acquired Allegheny Industrial Systems, a calibration company in Erie, Pa.
Allegheny Industrial Systems (AIS) was a longtime service provider of scale calibrations in northwestern Pennsylvania and its environs. We have begun the process of contacting AIS customers to inform them of the change and of the services and benefits we offer.
The move allows our calibration division, Precision Scale & Balance, to expand the presence of its existing Jamestown, NY branch, which provides on-site calibration and repair of weighing and laboratory equipment, including industrial scales and laboratory balances. Customers can receive other kinds of calibrations through the metrology labs at our main office in Lancaster, NY.
Furthermore, unlike AIS, Precision Scale & Balance maintains accreditation to ISO/IEC 17025 and ANSI/NCSL Z5400-1 through the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA).
This is the second acquisition for our company in under five years, following the 2016 merger with Bernat Inc., a pipette calibration business that formerly operated on Long Island. With a continually growing customer base, our team has expanded, with four calibration technicians added in the past year.
